ASAI Kan’emon (1901-1983) was a Western-style painter who lived and had a studio in the Taura neighborhood of Yokosuka City for twenty years after World War II. In 1996, his heirs donated many of his works and other materials to Yokosuka City, and these became the foundation of the Yokosuka Museum of Art.
During this special section period, our focus is on his Don Quixote paintings, introduced in the gallery on the second floor (in front of the library). If you are interested in ASAI Kan’emon and the stories of Don Quixote, please visit the library and enjoy the related books.
